IIT Jammu Successfully Hosts Its Entrepreneurship Festival Udyamitsav


IIT Jammu on January 20 successfully hosted the second edition of its Entrepreneurship Festival, Udyamitsav’24 with the theme of ‘Ignite the Leader Within’.

Smt. Sunaina Mehta, Joint Director of J&K Tourism, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, offering valuable insights into entrepreneurship culture and startup initiatives in the tourism sector. 

The event featured distinguished speakers, with Dhristi Kharbanda, founder of Sarvani NGO and an Instagram sensation, sharing her experiences in social entrepreneurship. 

The session was hosted by Jasleen Kour, CEO and co-founder of Branding Elves. Praveen Bangera, the visionary founder of XVERSE, shared his insights on “Customer Experience for Startups.” 

Participants from Shark Tank India Season 2, including Dr Puneet, CEO and co-founder of CureSee; Sheikh Samiullah and Sunny Gupta, co-founders of FastBeetle, shared their journeys and learnings pre and post-Shark Tank. 

The festival also hosted a panel discussion on the topic “Current Entrepreneurship Landscape & GOI Support”, featuring Rahul Sahai (Chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Jammu), Ishan Verma (Director, J&K Startups Association) and Sheikh Samiuulah. 

Arush Mahajan was the guest speaker for “J&K Influencers Connect,” featuring young Instagram content creators, and Rupesh Masson (Regional Director, UCMAS) shared insights on “freelancing.” 

The event concluded with the judging of Pitchers 2.0 — Pitch Deck Competition, where team Badlav from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies secured the first prize, followed by team Patika from IPM Careers for the second prize, and the third prize went to team Bogglecaps from Gargi College. To lighten the mood, Standup Comedian Mr. Sumit Thappa and Poet Xarger Irfan performed at the closing ceremony.

The festival, attended by over 700 students at the inauguration, successfully showcased the participation of school and college students from various regions of Jammu. The exhibition of J&K startups was highly appreciated by IIT Jammu’s Director, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur. 

The meticulously planned and executed event was under the guidance of Premveer Singh, the convenor of the fest, and co-convenors Prabhnoor Singh, Ryan Khullar, Rajnish, and Akash Verma, with the support of Dr. Amitash Ojha, Dr. Ankit Dubey, and Manoj Aggarwal, faculty in charge of the fest.
