Beginning of the Journey
In 2001, Vineeta Singh completed her schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, Delhi. Then she went to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to get her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Afterwards, she got into IIM Ahmedabad. In 2006, during her MBA studies, she was working at Deutsche Bank as a summer intern and later on, was offered a job with an annual income of ₹1 crore, which she declined!
She was determined to become an entrepreneur, so she continued her efforts at first, in 2007, she founded her first startup with Quetzal, which focused on background verification checks for recruiters. However, it failed to succeed.
Then, she started her second venture with Fab-Bag, in 2012, which was a subscription platform that provided monthly deliveries of beauty products.
Then finally in 2015, came her cosmetics and personal care brand geared towards the Indian market. This was her third startup, that founded together with her husband Kaushik Mukherjee.

In 2015, when companies like Lakme, MAC, Maybelline and L’Oréal when already occupying a huge proportion of the Indian market, SUGAR was able to make its way in, because of its very niche of a cruelty-free collection, with strong low-poly attractive packaging high in quality.
