The Uttar Pradesh Girl, Who made it to Cannes 2024 in her Self-Stitched Dresses.

Nancy Tyagi, a fashion influencer, made a stunning debut on the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, wearing a pink ruffled gown with a long train. The self-made gown, which took a month to create, has garnered widespread attention and plaudits from the Internet, including from actor Sonam Kapoor and fashion critic Sufi Motiwala.

In her post on Instagram, Tyagi shared that the gown was stitched with 1,000 meters of fabric and weighed over 20 kg. “Stepping onto the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as a debutant feels surreal. I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighs over 20kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the love and support from all of you. This is a dream come true, and I hope my creation dazzles you as much as your support has inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” she wrote.

The girl came from her hometown to New Delhi with the aspiration of clearing the UPSC. However, destiny surely had other plans for her. The lockdown put a halt on her UPSC dream, but with a silver lining. The young girl got the opportunity to follow what her heart yearned, dress designing.

Starting from scratch and making her first debut at Cannes has not been a journey filled with roses for the girl. The art of dress designing was not a learned skill for Nancy, but has definitely been her heart’s true calling. Her fashion influencer journey, thus is worth reading about.

The girl started gaining some recognition with her Meesho haul. Yet, just like every social media influencer with minimum means but big dreams, the girl received mixed reactions. She faced several trolls on social media. Many also body shamed the girl. However, trolls like these did not stop the girl from posting her talent and creations. Gradually, her social media following started gaining momentum. Not only did she make a place of her own in content creation, she also started receiving appreciation.

Designing a self-tought skill for nancy

She knew how to turn ordinary scratch into extraordinary outfits. In a world that only trusts degrees and documents, Nancy Tyagi trusted her talent and chose to be a self-taught designer. Her DIY skills have been exceptional, and with several trial and errors, the girl managed to create elaborate outfits of actresses and icons like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone among others.

At the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Nancy wore an exquisite ruffle strapless pink gown and grabbed eyeballs as she walked the red carpet. The giant gown came with a long ruffle train and was embellished at the bust. She sported matching gloves with her outfit elevating the entire look and exudes princess vibes. While celebrities wear top-notch designers to shine at the prestigious film festival, Nancy shone brightly in self-made attire. The fashion influencer made a second visit at the Cannes 2024 too, and this time in a saree gown. Was this outfit also created by Nancy herself? Of course!

Just like most of her self-stitched outfits, this one too was created from scratch. The sequinned saree gown outfit came with a beautiful backless blouse. The blouse came with a hood on it.

Nancy has revealed her third look, and the internet is absolutely thrilled. In an Instagram post, she shared, “Cannes Film Festival ka mera teesra outfit! Yeh mere dil ke bohot kareeb hai – ek corset, tail wali skirt aur stole ka perfect blend. Black ka elegance aur sleek look kuch aur hi hai. Yeh pura design maine khud banaya hai!” Her caption translates to, “My third outfit for the Cannes Film Festival! This is very close to my heart – a perfect blend of a corset, tail skirt, and stole. The elegance of black and its sleek look is unmatched. I designed this entire outfit myself!”

The black ensemble features a corset top and a tail skirt, paired with a feathered stole and black gloves, exuding sophistication and grace. Nancy also shared a video of her outfit, which quickly garnered over 3.5 million views, with fans and followers praising her creativity and style. Nancy’s first look was a showstopper one: a massive pink fluffy gown paired with a simple necklace, capturing the essence of glamour and elegance. Her second outfit continued to impress – a lavender-colored saree complete with matching headgear, blending traditional elements with contemporary flair.

Nancy Tyagi’s self-made dresses have not only turned heads at Cannes but also cemented her status as a rising star in the fashion world. Tyagi’s success is indeed a personal one and the internet agrees.

In the latest podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Nancy shared that she once considered suicide due to her bad financial condition. During The Ranveer Show, Nancy Tyagi was asked if she had a lot of struggles in life. The influencer replied, “Bohot zyada sangharsh tha, marne ka bhi aaya vichar. Bhai school jaa hai, uski fees bhi bharni hai. 6-7 hazar me kya ho raha hai mahine me. Kuch nahi hota, zeher aa jaata hai. (There was a lot of struggle, the thought of dying also came. Brother is going to school, his fees also have to be paid. In 6-7 thousand rupees, what’s happening in the month? Nothing happens. You can buy poison)”.

The 23-year-old added, “Ye last option tha ki video bana ke dekhte hain, kuch hota hai sahi. Fir chodte hain sab (Then the last option was to make a video and see if something happens, then leave everything)”. Nancy shared that her mother has sacrificed a lot. According to her, she felt guilty seeing her mother struggle while she sat comfortably at home. She said, “Mujhe itna paise nahi chaiye tha, bas itna chaiye tha ki mummy kaam pe naa jaa paaye. (I didn’t want that much money, I just wanted a lot of it so that mom doesn’t go to work)”
