What happened to National Creators Award 2025? Opinion

0

Last year, on 8th March 2024, India’s Prime Minister recognised the content creators and influencers of the nation through a first-of-its-kind event called ‘National Creators Award’.

Now, it has been more than a year, and there’s no news about the National Creators Award 2025.

Many people believe that last year’s creator-felicitation event was primarily intended to woo young voters ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Content creators nowadays are no less than celebrities, having crores of audience on social media, and they can easily be used to influence election campaigning.

The winners of the National Creators Award 2024 included Ranveer Allahbadia, Abhi and Niyu, Ankit Baiyanpuria, Gaurav Choudhary, Kamiya Jani, Maithili Thakur, Jaya Kishori, Janhvi Singh, and others.

There’s a public discourse even about the winners, that many talented creators were not selected. Reddit has some serious discussions about it.

The election angle about the National Creators Award was also pointed out by Vijender Singh Chauhan, a popular interviewer at Drishti IAS, who is also known for his viral meme ‘Baithne ka tarika thoda casual hai’.

He had uploaded a video on his YouTube channel analysing why the national-level felicitation of creators was hosted just before the elections.

No one can be sure if the National Creators Award was entirely meant for election campaigning. But if it was not intended, then why is it not being organised this year?

The delay and silence about the National Creators Award 2025 are shaping the public discourse in this direction. What are your thoughts on this?
