YouTube Creators Can Now Livestream Vertically And Get Views from Shorts Feed

0

YouTube creators can now go live vertically from their smartphone or a desktop encoder and get views from the YouTube Shorts feed. While this feature has been available for a while, viewers can now discover vertical Live streams in their Shorts feed.

With over 50 billion views daily, YouTube Shorts is one of the most popular short video creation platforms and YouTube is consistently adding new features catering to its short video creators.

Viewers watching Shorts on YouTube can now see previews of vertical live streams in the Shorts feed and tap to enter a scrollable live feed.

This way, short video creators can get more discoverability and engage with their audience without any professional studio-like live stream setup.

Vertical live streams can also be found by pausing a short and tapping on the ‘Live’ button on the top of the screen.

Currently, the vertical live streams are not eligible for ad-monetization but all the features of fan-funding like Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Memberships are available just like a classic horizontal live stream.

The main difference between a classic horizontal live stream and a vertical live stream is the latter’s ability to get discovered in the YouTube Shorts feed. Other than that, all the features of YouTube Live are available in both formats.

In a nutshell, YouTube Vertical Live is just like a regular live stream with the addon of Shorts feed discoverability.

The process of starting a vertical livestream is also very easy. You have to just click on the ‘Go live’ option on the YouTube app and start streaming keeping your smartphone in vertical mode. In addition to this, you can also live stream through a desktop encoder.
