Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) Launch Privacy Education Campaign in Partnership with Meta

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) is proud to announce its partnership with Meta to jointly launch a privacy education campaign to raise awareness among Thai users of the privacy controls on Meta’s apps and services.

The campaign aims to empower Thai users with the knowledge and tools necessary to take control of their online privacy. Through creative educational posts, users will be encouraged to:

  • Use the Privacy Checkup tool on Facebook
  • Learn more about end-to-end encryption
  • Turn on two-factor authentication and Login Alerts to enhance account security

The campaign will run for six weeks, starting today, and will feature a series of content in Thai, including social media posts, ads, and GIFs. The content will be available on Facebook and is designed to reach a wide audience of Thai users.

This campaign reiterates Meta’s commitment to investing in privacy education and the MDES and PDPC’s effort to equip Thai consumers with the information they need to make the online privacy choices that are right for them. Meta has invested $8 billion in its privacy program since 2019, and rolled out a number of educational tools to give people more clarity into how their data is used and their options to manage it.

“We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and are excited to partner with MDES and PDPC to educate Thai users on how to take control of their privacy online,” said Yingyos Leechaianan, Facebook Thailand’s Head of Public Policy. “This campaign is an important step in promoting online privacy and ensuring that users are aware of  the  tools available to navigate Meta’s services and make the privacy choices that are right for them.”

Through this collaboration, Meta, MDES, and PDPC are working together to ensure consumers’ privacy is protected and that consumers are empowered to make the privacy decisions that are right for them on Facebook. By providing users with the tools and resources they need to manage their online presence, we can help create a safer and more secure online community for all.
